Mother's Day

Well, I didn’t get all the mounds of paperwork done – but I did get a darn good start. I thought if I had more organizational ‘tools’ I would be more motivated, so I spent some time googleing “office organization”, “no more clutter” and “procrastinators anonymous”. I found some really cool organizational stuff (check out these binders) but then I remembered the great storage boxes I bought last year at IKEA and the sad realization set in. What I need is someone to follow me around with a cattle prod... someone who will insist I get this stuff done... someone who will nag me incessantly until I realize it would be sooooo much better to do the paperwork than to listen to the nagging... What I need is my mom. I remember her standing at the foot of my bed, chanting, “Come on now, get up” or “Gooooooooooooooddd Mooooooornnnnnnnn-ING” – over and over again. She could be so annoying – but I have to give her this, she never gave up. She would stand at the end of that bed, chanting until the mission was accomplished. It got to be that I knew she wouldn’t give up – so on the first “Come on now, get up” or “Gooooooooooooooddd Mooooooornnnnnnnn-ING”, I would spring out of bed. I realize now – it didn’t take her long to train me to get up on the first call. Wish she was here now to do her magic.
I sure do miss my mom.
